Are there places where the current or proposed facility should be upgraded to provide for additional safety and connectivity?

There are numerous on-street bike facilities we have proposed, some of which are shown as buffered or protected (see map legend on the right of the map). Are there places where the current or proposed facility should be upgraded to provide for additional safety and connectivity? For an explanation of various different types of bike facilities, click here to find them on our project page. Think of things like:

  • Streets which have sharrows where there should be striped bike lanes,
  • Standard bike lanes which require some level of buffering or protection, or
  • Intersecting neighborhood streets which may altered to only allow thru-passage of bicycles (known as a bike boulevard).

would love to see the Kalamazoo Ave shared bike path go all the way to Douglas Ave I believe the trail goes down the Arcadia Creek and up Westnedge to connect in Kalamazoo City's plan

There is no bike path or lane on this section of Kilgore which is dangerous There is a bike lane in between oakland and westnedge but then it disappears This forces bikers on to the sidewalk which is dangerous Addition of a bike lane here would help link Kzoo to the portage trails especially the entry point at Milham and Lover's Lane

A protected bike lane here if I understand the map correctly is so important Cars drive way over posted limits sight distance is compromised and there is zero shoulder YES

There is a real need for bike lanes here - families and teens ride their bikes along this corridor to get to KCentral and the KVRT and north to many subdivisions
