This bridge is a vital link for emergency situations and should be restored or replaced, not removed. Residents on both sides of the river depend on this route for work, school, and leisure activities. I am against the permanent removal of this bridge.
I'm not sure what the plan is for the SR225 bridge over the Wabash River but it is a vital link between Battle Ground and Lafayette, and I would hope that, if it is deficient in any way, it would be repaired or replaced.
The recent rumble strips make cycling nearly impossible on hwy 7.
A round about here might be ideal if sized for large farm machinery ie combines and tractor pulled tillage equipment.
Highway 60 needs to be turned into 4 lanes. The current 2 lanes are not enough for the number of vehicles that travel that road. There are a lot of accidents caused by people driving under the speed limit and people trying to pass long lines of traffic. Very dangerous.
The placement of rumble strips on US 27 north of Berne and south of Monroe is nonsensical. They are directly on the middle line and directly on the white right side of the travel lane. I have seen this no where else. Normally they are at least 6-8 inches to the right of the white line. Amish horse-drawn vehicles use these shoulders and could then straddle them. But no to avoid them they have have their wagon wheels in the lane of traffic. This is extremely dangerous. The ones on the center line are nothng more than a nuisance. They will never actually prevent an accident. Ultimately this stretch needs to be widened also. That probably will not happen in my lifetime.
I agree that this crosswalk is very challenging to say the least. There is a big electric or signal box at the corner that impairs drivers from seeing pedestrians. Plus, with the left turn onto a one way, drivers aren't even looking to the left to see if there are any pedestrians waiting to cross. I've almost been struck twice. There needs to be a more workable solution here. Maybe let foot traffic cross 10 seconds before the light turns green for auto traffic.
I also see many hotel guests trying to cross here for fast food. This area gets dicey sometimes with the safety of pedestrians
Agreed. It seems to be a test area for driver tolerance and vehicle durability; not to mention a test of flexible arrival times for employment. I was an hour late for work when the barriers had me trapped in a single lane between exits while a truck was getting serviced and had no way to get off the road.
I have heard that the railroad has to move away from the base, so perhaps they are waiting for that to happen.
I'm trying to picture what you mean here, what route do you have in mind... something like Indiana Avenue, across both Hogans and Wilson Crk to Scenic Drive, then edge along Perfect North, cut through hidden valley, and more or less follow 275 over to Kilby? (Sand Run or Stephens might make more sense...?) Or am I misunderstanding the route you have in mind?
SR 1 know as Bellview needs widened with additional improvements at Ridge and Bellview plus US 50\Bellview\I 275. Traffic volumes in winter and yearly am are issues. Access locations at Craig and Ameristop are problems too.
Would greatly prefer it if the truck traffic was banned on SR-1 instead. Serious accidents because of trucks are common, and I'm convinced the reason most of them are on SR-1 in the first place is because it allows them to skip the weigh station in Harrison OH.
I agree that truck traffic needs to be considered when managing and controlling any of our main highways that are located not too far from intersections of major interstate highways. My understanding is that Route 1 allows for fuel and mileage savings between I-74 and US 50 or I-275. I understand residential desire(s) to ban trucks; however, I believe banning trucks is contrary the warranted tax base to develop and maintain state and local highway systems. As a consumer, I become concerned about additional shelf prices that accompany the increased strains on trucking companies. Secondly, I grew up in a house that sits only about 50 feet from State Route 48 and not too far from the Lawrenceburg city limits. If banning trucks on SR 1 can be validated, then it could surely be validated for SR 48; further demonstrating how this solution is not a viable one. I do agree that State Route 1 would more reasonably fit its intended use by following the design of Highway 350 out of Aurora, Indiana; specially, in relation to the higher traffic areas. Dual lanes provide safer passage when combining multiple vehicle capacities within one roadway. Again, I fully understand a desire to ban the trucks (I live on a single-wide county road where cars nearly need to stop when passing going opposite directions and speed limits are ignored. Mailboxes are swiped, driveways are blocked, and yard frontage is used by the general public in the general use of this road); however, it wouldn't be rational to ban trucks from Route 1 without banning them from all of the other non-interstate roadways. The best case scenario, a benefit for the greater common good, is to develop the route to support its needed use. It is my hope that this referenced issue can move beyond a should/shouldn't use argument to a pursuit of planning and implementation of functional roadway improvements and maintenance to facilitate safe, common passage.
Improve traffic flow & safety by installing a stop light at Hwy 60/Hwy 56 junction in Salem.
I frequently use this intersection. The traffic is particularly and dangerously heavy (including numerous large trucks from both highways/roadways). A traffic signal(s) at this intersection would greatly improve safety conditions at this intersection. I have personally investigated numerous traffic accidents as a law enforcement officer and coroner/deputy coroner.
The Bypass on HWY 60 leaving Salem toward Pekin is extremely dangerous. A light would be a wonderful safety measure. Also, HWY 60 has outgrown 2 lanes. It would be wonderful to widen that road.
Need to install stop lights on the Salem bypass at State Road 60 intersections and State Road 56 intersections. Both are very dangerous duty rush hours!
Need to make State Road 60 into a 4 lane highway from Salem to I 65.
This section of US50 has heavy use by large trucks, both semi and farm type. The highway is ancient by today’s highway standards
Indiana needs to be like Ohio and make all their interstates 3 lanes. Trucks that are set at same speeds trying to pass each other causes traffic digestion.
I don't know how decisions are made on which intersections would be good for a roundabout, but perhaps this is one. I agree with the previous comment that high traffic volumes in the morning and evening rush hours cause backups in all directions. The current intersection doesn't allow enough space for a full-length left-turn lane or right-turn lane, both of which are needed (all directions).
What “freight” traffic would this help? Truckers would still use the existing exit 105 to reach the industrial park and other locations that require trucks.
Wonderful idea--support
should be 4 lanes from Brownstown to North Vernon
NOOoooo!!!! "Inevitable" means those traffic problems have not yet happened. Do not fix what isn't broken. Drivers need to take responsibility to be able to cross a highway, or if they are on the highway, observe that someone is crossing. Creating roads for a small percentage of reckless drivers only causes good drivers to become impatience, and thus, poor drivers. Leave the crossings alone.
this entire stretch of road needs extensive work from w. Harrison to end. road is rough with lots of slides/slips next to the river and INDOT does a lousy job of maintaining the strethch running thru new Trenton when it snows
US 30 needs to be a freeway from I-69 at Fort Wayne all the way to SR 49 at Valparaiso at the least. Should have been done ages ago. It should have been the route of I-80 when the interstate system was laid out. Seems like most of INDOT's money goes to southern Indiana when northern Indiana has a higher population, more truck traffic, and harsher weather conditions than southern Indiana.
Consideration for this specific intersection is part of a larger problem with US 30 between Fort Wayne and Chicago, commerce and local traffic stops. Well outlined in Mayor Daniels linked document. In review of Ryan's proposal this would enable travellers to blink and pass through Columbia City as they should, not stopped 4 times just to pass through a 3 mile stretch of road. Even well timed you're bound to be stopped at least once for no good reason beside to notice they have a Walmart plaza. I like many would be thrilled to contribute tax wise to pass through whitley county without pause.
When this overpass is done, long-term planning would suggest that flooding issues immediately south of the interchange should be corrected also. This should be done for nominal additional cost concurrently while the other work is being done. Currently there are no plans for this.
This was an issue from day one. Contractor repaired after road was opened. Still bad. Contractor should repair at no charge. Very bad road from day one. State should not have accepted. Waist of money.
You rarely ever see INDOT do what is called a "4R" project, where a narrow two-lane roadway is widened through the purchase of right-of-way to provide paved shoulders and proper clear zone widths. So many roads still have poles directly next to the edge line!
This sounds like a country road. Perhaps refusing truck access would be best.
Agreed. Whatever benefits come with the four-lane road get completely negated by poor urban planning along these roads, and multiple and dangerous traffic signals.
As of this week, the speed limit has been raised to 70mph north of Kinser Pike. Thank You!
Please put up warning/information signs.
No truck bypass! I don't think many people are considering the revenue brought into Angola and surrounding areas because of truckers. If we would decide to create a bypass, we will notice.
Overhead signage with flashing lights would be more effective here than the road side postings due to land improvements and features lining the roadway; such as overhanging trees and close range buildings. I understand that South Dearborn Community Schools had to pay for their own cautionary signage for Highway 350. I don't agree with that. I think this should have been covered by highway funds due to being a public safety issue. I would agree with highway funds providing overhead signage for this area if the private school is unable to cover the cost due to the larger concern involving the general public.
My previous comment was paced at the wrong pin. I apologize.
The connection to 1 is very awkward but the 50 traffic seems to cause more trouble. Since changes to 275 (another ramp further north east, maybe at the underpass on the state line) are probably out of scope, the best hope is probably adding a dedicated ramp from belleview to east bound 50 (more or less through the phantom fireworks driveway). Again, the root of the problem is no alternate route.
INDOT does not know how to do a two-lane exit where the outside lane is exit-only and the second lane is an option lane, which is what is needed at this exit ramp.
I agree. Perhaps an Urban type interchange with the Lloyd Expressway going over Burkhardt Road would be a project to consider.
It would also be nice to see some of the streetlights turned on in this extremely dark and heavily-traveled area. Do they need some new lightbulbs? Maybe they can use some of that budget surplus to buy a couple.
I agree, the increase in traffic on the bypass will cause more congestion, especially on ball game nights. We need wider roads and shoulders in order to accommodate the increase in traffic when the new medical facility is completed.
Traffic signals on highways defeat their purpose which is to move traffic quickly. Instead, consider a different entrance for traffic to join the highway.
also, flip the SR 2 and US 20 alignments from US 20/SR 2 intersection and US 20/31 bypass. This would make it so traffic on US 20 could continue 4 lanes all the way with no need to go through New Carlisle. This would reduce confusion for through traffic and would not require switching roads if the desire is to remain on US 20.
Greenway, bike and pedestrian pathways will benefit the entire state.
The volume of traffic on Highway 62 has increased significantly. The two complaints that I hear are safety concerns at the intersection of 62 and Charlestown Pike where the pain clinic is located (high crash area?) and also the difficulty of getting in the correct lane at the roundabout at you near Jeffersonville.
The interchange of I-265 and State Road 62 requires a complete make over.. Lane marking and new signs is just delaying what needs to be done.. The increase in truck traffic and commuters going to work will result in several accidents. Fix the problem..
With increased traffic and rapidly developing real estate in the southeastern part of Hamilton County and the northwestern part of Hancock County, the entire Mt. Comfort/Olio roadway corridor is in desperate need of expansion and the intersection with Olio Road at US 36 is included in the scope of needed improvements. Extreme congestion, due to two (2) traffic lanes, at-grade rail crossings for dual sets of CSX tracks, 20 trains per day, train lengths of up to a mile - blocking both the primary and secondary rail crossings in Lawrence, McCordsville, and Fortville - creates an environment for unnecessary collisions and halts regional growth.
The traffic on the SR10 corridor between I65 and US41 has increased tenfold over the past several years with only minimal road improvement. The truckers discovered long ago that they can avoid the I80 log-jams by cutting across country here, with virtually no stops and little regard for the speed limit. My suggestion? Put the Illinois/Indiana expressway back on the drawing board...now that Illinois has a Democratic governor, maybe they will once again consider it.
I agree... We need the Illiana Tollway/Expressway. Too much traffic and congestion and this will help
Widening of Rt 10 adding extra lanes would be helpful but more than that, adding traffic lights to the Rt 10/I65 ramps would help tremendously. At certain times of the day the 65 SB exit ramp to Rt 10 is terribly backed up and people even turn right then turn around in one of the local businesses to avoid the Eastbound Rt 10 entrance. There are a lot of accidents at this location as well.
Add additional lane from lowell to Lafayette. Hwy 10 makes sense to increase to 4 lanes.
Route 10 should be 4 lanes from I-65 to rte. 41. Route 2 will bottleneck at the town limits of Lowell and it is not feasible to expand the road through that town.
IN 42 already is the connector. Improvements need to be made to it and as it goes through Mooresville and Monrovia. We don’t need another one. Fix the existing road.
I agree. I see the right turn on red being a bit problematic because of the large number of trucks turning left blocking the view. Having the light on 50 go solid green during train crossings would be a big help. Ideally an under or overpass for either George Street or the rail line, but a dedicated "receiving lane" for continual right turn traffic would probably be almost as good.
I agree. The root of the problem is that there is no alternate route. A couple of years ago all traffic between 275 etc. and Aurora/Dillsboro etc. was blocked for an entire day due to a problem at one spot on 50. Shorter delays are very common because there is no alternate.
Thru-traffic needs to bypass this highly congested area or more lanes need to be added.
Long overdue. Totally in favor.
US 6 is a well-used truck route, especially since the Governor raised truck rates on the Indiana Toll Road. The section had been on the design track for widening but was injudiciously removed.
Widening US 6 between SR149 and N Calumet Ave was and should still be a priority. It was removed without explanation from the project that widened US 6 westward from SR 149.
US 50 and Front Street is the Gateway to Dillsboro. Safety, access, and beautification should be equally addressed at this intersection. This location is the epicenter of development along our corridor. It is within the municipality.
I would agree.
ABSOLUTELY!!! I have almost been in 2 accidents at that spot. It is silly and dangerous and NOT marked.
At the intersection of US HWY 421 and State Rd. 14 West in Pulaski County is West Central High School. West Central has had a student killed and a student hit a car and killed someone in the car. Many near misses, major accidents, and minor accidents occur at this intersection each school year. Semis, farm machinery, dump trucks, school buses, student drivers, and school personnel use this intersection every day at about the same time. A blinking caution sign signaling for traffic to slow down to 45 mph during these times is in place and caution lights are at the intersection; however, drivers use the turn lanes as passing lanes causing chaos. The blinking caution sign does not adjust to 2-hour delays so this is another concern. This intersection is so dangerous that we made our student driver drive a different route to school so she would not be at that intersection in the morning and afternoon. Please, put a stoplight in at this intersection and stop the tragedies.
True, so do not limit access.
Passing blisters won't be sufficient. A bypass w new feeder roads should be considered. Current road infrastructure in Dubois county is maxed out.
indiana 46 from columbus to nashville and nashville to bloomington has high traffic during tourist season in nashville. dual lane roads become congested with truck traffic. need widening along route to get from columbus to bloomington I69 extension more quickly.
wider lanes and maybe turn lanes in high traffic areas would be good .flashing warning lights in those areas too
Agree with the original statement and comment. Left turn lane on S side of 46 exiting area E of Shell station is a problem too. Could easily make the single lane into two L turn lanes to ease the congestion and make R turn lane straight+R.
Whenever I come through this intersection, there is never anyone to yield to. Approaching this intersection, you easily can see if someone is at the stop signs.
Yes, that seems odd, usually someone would have to have run the stop sign to be a problem for those yielding, other than the continuous right turn yield, it *is* already a 4 way stop... the signs even say "all-way" right on them. Maybe it is an enforcement problem rather than a configuration problem. If people are running stop signs that's a problem.
I have witnessed this type of activity many times due to living only about a mile from this intersection. However, I am becoming calloused about multiple new restrictions, in relation to multiple areas of governing, that continually remove freedoms from individuals who do know how to navigate rules and how to conduct themselves appropriately. I propose a few reflecting/blinking lights being added to the yield sign and some enforcement versus restricting every single individual from experiencing continuity when it is appropriate. This intersection still observes a majority of low/no traffic time periods throughout the day. If normal traffic flow becomes continuously dense throughout the day, then I would understand a need to ultimately restrict the directional flow; at all times and for all persons. In addition to my own observations and use of local four-way stops in the area for over 20 years, two factors prevail such as a rise in the use of roundabouts (where yielding is a key factor to the effectiveness of traffic control) and the evidential bases of personal experience, shared understandings, and observances regarding the four-way, restrictive stop at Highways 101 and 350 in Milan, Indiana, that demonstrate why replacing current yield options with full restriction wouldn't be a solution to this problem. The four-way stop in Milan is continuously misused. For example, there have been several occasions where I would be re-entering my vehicle in a nearby parking lot and witness a vehicle on Highway 350, coming from the Morris Hill direction and traveling toward the Osgood direction, just blow through the four-way, all restrictive stop, traveling straight through without stopping. For extra reference, the four-way design at IN 46 and IN 1 in St. Leon is grossly misused multiple times. While I appreciate and prefer the addition of turn lanes, this stop still demonstrates how the problem of four-way, cross traffic control in primary rural areas lies within the happenstance of individuals who disregard traffic controls versus the multiple individuals who have no problem regarding traffic controls properly on a continual basis. To conclude, I would recommend an investigation into the effectiveness of reflective/flashing lights added to stop signs in areas where reasonable traffic controls are in place and danger has been sustained due to non-compliance; a similar scenario to the one being indicated here (specially, if any injuries have occurred due to a non-compliance with current yield controls).
Add additional lane from lowell to Lafayette. Hwy 10 makes sense to increase to 4 lanes. Keep the Hoosier train running from Indy to Chicago.
Scotland Newberry Road between Hwy 57 and Hwy 231 needs to be maintained by the state, since it is used often by heavy trucks to get to I-69 from Hyw. 57.
US 231 between Loogootee & Haysville is pitiful. The joke here is that if you need a can of paint mixed, drive to Haysville.
McCordsville's growth is severely handicapped by the terrible traffic congestion experienced at the northern side of the town. Many rumors and news articles have circulated over the past ten years or more defining the solution to this traffic problem. But nothing seems to be proposed as a long term solution to the towns problem.
I agree with this statement. The west side of Indianapolis is growing so fast that the road system traveling East/West cannot keep up. US 36 is the worst due to all the retail and stop lights, causing traffic to spill over to nearby back roads which cannot handle the increased traffic. This is likely to continue to get worse as this area continues to grow. Having a more convenient way to go East/West between Avon and downtown with fewer stoplights would be wonderful. Thanks for the opportunity to add feedback.
I agree with this comment. People are taking risks routinely trying to cross this busy stretch of roadway.
High traffic volume/growth; Congestions/bottlenecks; Interchange issue; Intersection issue; Accessibility
When they widened 46, they added a traffic light every 50 feet, slowing traffic on a state highway to an absolute crawl. I'm sure this is helpful during IU basketball games. I don't care about IU basketball games. I definitely don't care if the people that attend them have to sit in traffic for 45 minutes when they're done. I have to sit through those pointless lights every single day I drive to and from work.
INDOT should acquire more RW at the intersection of I-465 and Mann road so they can expand the interchange; allowing traffic to egress and ingress in both directions on 465.
The interchange at I-69/Illinois Rd is congested almost every evening. This is especially pronounced when using one of the inner "loop" ramps. Both traffic sources must weave between each other to use the ramps. The issue is badly exacerbated when both merging lanes are effectively at capacity, which occurs on a daily basis. Compounding the problem is the fact that this weaving is frequently done at speeds equal to or exceeding the posted speed limit.

Us 50 is extremely congested during rush hour. Timing of lights could help greatly or a bypass. Takes over 40 minutes to get from 275 to Aurora when busy.

Thru-traffic needs to bypass this highly congested area or more lanes need to be added.
Lots of residential development coming online and sub-divisions being built in or near Fortville. Very attractive suburban area that will continue to grow overtime. Need to monitor and plan for growth and development.

460 Craig Ave
The intersection of SR 1 / US 50 / I-275 is literally a bottleneck with high volumes of traffic and major efficiency and safety issues / concerns. SR 1 in particular, needs to be widened at or near the interchange all the way to the bridge where SR 1 turns into Ridge Ave in Greendale.

Since changes to 275 (another ramp further north east, maybe at the underpass on the state line) are probably out of scope, the best hope is probably adding a dedicated ramp from belleview to east bound 50 (more or less through the phantom fireworks driveway). 4755 N US Highway 52
Southbound IN-52, left lane, intersection of IN-52 and W 450 N: There have been numerous "near misses" for accidents due to cars wanting to turn left onto W 450 N from IN-52 South. It would be extremely helpful to have a left-turn only lane to allow cars to move over and avoid potential crashes.
456 S 4th Street Rd
US50 through Seymour is extremely high volume and at times during the day is bumper to bumper. Redirection of traffic via Burkhart Blvd. extension should help, however I believe the state should be involved and re-route US50 using the Burkart path with modifications and/or re-route IND11 using the Burkhart path. This would be similar to US50 in North Vernon or IND46 in Greensburg. Could add additional I65 off-ramp either N or S of current US50 ramps to ease traffic from current corridor.
741 Old Plank Rd
Was curious when improvements (expanding the roadway from two lanes to four) were anticipated for State Road 135 in Northern Johnson County from County Road 700 south to State Road 135 are anticipated with the increase of traffic generated by the residential and commercial growth (which brings additional tax dollars) in the area. State Road 135 will have increased traffic when State Road 37 is being converted to I-69 as an alternate route creating more congestion on the two (2) lane system.
N Emerson Ave
This ramp at Emerson needs to be widen to handle the two left turn lanes and the one right turn lane.
2298 W Main St
This intersection needs a stop light. The residents in the neighborhood and the patrons of the movie theater, who's entrance/exit is directly across from the entrance/exit of the neighborhood, have difficulty turning left or right out of these areas due to the traffic volume. This is especially true during the rush hours. There is a new business going in to the east of this intersection that will only add to the issue.
The two lane SR135 corridor down to Trafalgar and points on south become quite congested. This is both during the day and especially during rush hours. Widening the road to four lanes would sure help alleviate this congestion.
Finish US 31 as a freeway all the way from Indianapolis to South Bend. Traffic has increased substantially and hundreds of driveways and intersections present numerous possibilities for crashes on this high speed truck heavy corridor.
A stoplight is needed at this intersection. There are numerous crashes and have been fatalities at this intersection. Big truck traffic has increased with the addition of diesel pumps at Speedway.
I-469 N
Need a freeway to freeway interchange at I-469 and US 24 without at-grade intersections! INDOT is always behind the curve on proper interchange design.
Bluffton Rd
The I-469 interchange with SR1 needs an upgrade study. Increased truck traffic with the distribution centers and Walmart milk processing plant just to the north. Wait times at the westbound to southbound left turn can get very long. May need traffic signals.

US 50 presents major traffic congestion with bottlenecked traffic flow limitations affecting the cities of Greendale, Lawrenceburg, Aurora, the Towns of Dillsboro & Moores Hill and throughout the area of Dearborn County. As the southeast Indiana, KY and Ohio tri-state entrance to Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Switzerland and Ripley Counties the failure to address current and projected traffic growth on US 50 limits local port authority development, reduces business expansion & redirects housing.
Rt 6 by the Porter Hospital was 'redone' yet just west of the hospital entrance the 4 lanes go down to two in a VERY haphazard way. There is not proper lighting or signage that the lanes are narrowing and it is extremely confusing to those not familiar with the area. Poorly done. Also, the intersection of Rt 6 and Meridian was 'redone' which appears to be a re-pavement with no real improvements yet weird swoopy lines were painted to create another lane (on Meridian heading north). Very odd.
The intersection of SR 28 and US 231 at Romney has needed a trafic signal for a long time
W County Line Rd
Left turn lane from county line on to 300 is backing up much further than left turn lane allows. Dangerous and frustrating for drivers trying to jump in after the extend lane starts. Long wait times. Needs two turn lanes or extra long time.
351 Green Blvd
Right turn on red would help alleviate back up on George St. the US 50 lights not going to a flashing red when train comes through would keep traffic moving on 50.
The poor timing of the lights at the intersections of West 96th St., Michigan Road and 465 impede smooth traffic flow and lead to terrible congestion especially during peek hours.
3965 N 600 W
This stretch of Mt. Comfort Rd. is poorly and confusingly marked for speed limits and drivers slow traffic or create hazards by making wrong assumptions. There is no speed limit sign for drivers turning south onto Mt. Comfort from 500 N. and signs in both directions just north of the town of Mt. Comfort display different limits within just a few yards of each other causing drivers to miss or misinterpret meanings.
A study may be necessary to help traffic flow. Westbound traffic always backed up trying to turn south on sturdy.

As Ellettsville in northwestern Monroe County continues to grow, a bypass south of the downtown district may be warranted in the not too distant future.
THERE NEEDS TO BE A BYPASS AROUND BEDFORD (16TH ST). TRFFIC IS BUMPER TO BUMPER, MOST OF THE DAY. AT ONE TIME ONE WAS ALMOST BUILT, BUT THE POWERS AT THE TIME DIDN'T WANT IT, FOR FEAR IT WOULD MAKE DOWNTOWN VOID OF TRAFFIC. HENCE NO VHANCE OF BUISNESS. THE MOST DIRECT ROAD WOULD BE 5TH STREET. IT IS ON THE NORTH SIDE AND COULD BE MADE TO BE A MORE DIRECT WAY TO DIVERT TRUCK TRAFFIC OUT OF THE DOWNTOWN AREA. A CONNECTING ROAD COULD BE BUILT STRAIGHT FROM 5 TH ST. Add flashing yellow light at US 50 and Front Street. This should caution motorists of dangerous intersection.
Try to structure contracts & spending planning reduce the overlap when multiple bridges or routes are being worked on at the same time in the same area. Good examples are Eel river bridge and 17th street bridges being shut down at same time in Logansport, 2018-2019. Also Superior Const. working on both IN26 bridge and US 52 bridge in Tippecanoe county with intermittent progress on both while having adverse traffic patterns at both locations. Could improve safety for drivers, workers both.

Poor striping and lack of adequate turning area on SR 1 next to Schuman Rd intersection and across the road by the gas station and Skyline.
US 40 needs resurfaced NOW. It is getting in bad shape from Brazil east all the way through Putnam County. Especially bad on the west bound lanes in Harmony, IN.
rerouting has happened to make a left turn lane in front of the BP station on highway 1 by the I74 interchange, but the road is bad and it's hard to follow the re-route. Several times people have not followed the new traffic pattern and almost run head-on into me.
8590 Mount Tabor Rd
I was appointed the Town Manager/ Superintendent of Utilities in March of 2017, one of the first issues that came across my desk was the US# 50 and Front Street interchange, and the lack of turning lane East and West bound. We met with INDOT and got a Eastbound turning lane included with the US#50 overlay project. We still feel a West bound turning lane is needed, and the possible mentioned JTURN alternative is totally unacceptable. We would like to meet with INDOT and further discuss options.

SR 9 from I-69 to W. 38th Street provides access to a high amount of commercial activities. Access management strategies should be retrofitted in the design of future corridor improvements to improve safety and peak hour flow.

I look forward to INDOT improving I-465 from 86th Street to US 31. Added lanes are required in both directions. The interchange for I-465 and I-865 need to be reconstructed recognizing safety and capacity needs. I just want to make a plea for state road 19 between Peru and Akron. The road is very narrow , no shoulder at all outside of the white line. And the curves at Tincup , I've witnessed semis and log trucks going clear over in the opposite lane and still have the back trailer axles off the road.

This is the busiest intersection in the entire southeastern Indiana area. It is in badly need of upgrades both functionally and cosmetically as the tri-state's gateway to southeastern Indiana. Perhaps a creative solution such as a single-point urban interchange could solve traffic flow here.

The intersection of Southbound SR 3 and SR 930 has increasing volumes of Traffic that cause delays. During peak hours it is not unusual to wait through 3 or 4 cycles of lights. This intersection appears to be in need of a modernized Traffic improvement to relieve congestion. Many options come to mind including a modified diverging diamond, elevated intersection, a direct exit and entrance to I-69 from SR 930 with an elongated ramp that is separate from SR 3 or possible Roundabout.
traffic exiting I-70 westbound onto northbound SR267 is extremely heavy and seems to indicate the need for dual turning lanes. Backups of traffic offloading I70 have been seen within a quarter mile of Ronald Reagan Pkwy.

US-50 between SR-350 to the I-275 connector very congested especially during Rush hours. Need a loop road connecting US-50 west of Aurora to I-275 in Ohio (Kilby Rd) to alleviate traffic congestion on US-50 thru Aurora. Lawrenceburg, and Greeendale.

The traffic on the SR10 corridor between I65 and US41 has increased tenfold over the past several years with only minimal road improvement. The truckers discovered long ago that they can avoid the I80 log-jams by cutting across country here, with virtually no stops and little regard for the speed limit. My suggestion? Put the Illinois/Indiana expressway back on the drawing board...now that Illinois has a Democratic governor, maybe they will once again consider it.

IN 42 already is the connector. Improvements need to be made to it and as it goes through Mooresville and Monrovia. We don’t need another one. Fix the existing road.
Would be great if US 33 were upgraded to four lanes past St. Mary's in OH.
There needs to be 3 lanes on I-70 from Terre Haute to Plainfield. The 3rd lane needs to be a semi-truck land. This would lessen traffic accidents and allow cars to pass them safer.

EB and WB needs dedicated left turn lanes. Currently the left turn lane is shared with the through lane. Traffic backs up.
Traffic through Merrillville, starting at the mall and going west needs improvement due to high volume of traffic.
It is very difficult to make left turns at the 39/42 intersections in Monrovia. Traffic light and turn lanes. There is also 40 acres for sale that could straighten 42 west as it enters town. Thus bypassing the 90 degree turns and moving traffic to 39 north towards I70 where most traffic is headed.
Restart the corridor between US 65 and US 55. BUT move it farther south out of Lake County

This corridor needs to have computer controlled traffic lights that are timed to stay green for a certain period of time during rush hours to allow traffic to flow. Traffic flow is non-existent currently because of the loop sensors at intersections. 2 or 3 cars can hold up dozens of others. It's either that or add another lane on each side.
I would just like to comment on the interstates that I have traveled in Indiana. We should be embarrassed as a state. Yesterday, I traveled from Terre Haute to Ft Wayne. I-70 is generally congested with semis in both lanes but the condition of the road is not terrible. I69 was very congested also. However, the condition of the road itself is terrible. This situation needs corrected. These roads need more lanes and need to be better maintained.

High traffic volumes and safety concerns, particularly during peak hours, associated with the schools on both sides of SR 1.
2 weeks 6 days ago
Overhead signage with flashing lights would be more effective here than the road side postings due to land improvements and features lining the roadway; such as overhanging trees and close range buildings. I understand that South Dearborn Community Schools had to pay for their own cautionary signage for Highway 350. I don't agree with that. I think this should have been covered by highway funds due to being a public safety issue. I would agree with highway funds providing overhead signage for this area if the private school is unable to cover the cost due to the larger concern involving the general public.

E 975 N in Warren County has 15 houses on this less than 2 mile road. It is gravel and in horrible condition year round. Tearing up vehicles, reducing property values and dangerous.
I was a Bartholomew County Sheriff who investigated a traffic fatality at this intersection in the mid-seventies. Alcohol, speed and road design were causal factors. I haven't been to the intersection in a number of years. I hope it has been improved.
US 231 through Jasper needs attention. It takes alot of time to get from Jasper north to Jasper south side.
SR 60 between Sellersburg and Salem has for years had a tremendous traffic volume, resulting in traffic violations such as following too closely, passing in no passing zones, reckless driving, etc. An increase in traffic enforcement would help, but a better solution would be to increase the number of lanes. The worst times, of course, are during rush hours.

Cars turning left onto College Mall Road from westbound 3rd St. regularly block eastbound traffic because of a poorly-placed stoplight immediately south of the intersection. This is an enforcement issue; drivers would stop doing it if they were afraid of getting ticketed. Please step up traffic patrols in this area, or force Simon Properties to completely revamp how people enter the mall. There's no reason they can't reduce the number of entrances and increase the capacity of the remaining ones.

The traffic going westbound on Southport gets very backed up especially rush hour. You have to sit through SEVERAL light rotations.
HWY. 49 from 94 to 6 is pretty much at capacity. Chesterton becomes grid locked for hours every day. It ought not take 30 minutes or more to get from 94 to the toll road. The traffic never really opens up until south of 6. South bound is especially bad. North bound is regularly backed up at Indian Boundary, lights further south have hills just after them, makes for a nightmare every time two trucks get side by side. Just bypass or bridge over Chesterton intersections, they want to remain small.
The timing on this light is poor, and causes significant backups at rush hour. This section of Rt. 1 is frequently at a standstill with only about 8 cars able to move from the end of Rt. 1 into the interstate on-ramp in one light cycle. It is very difficult to get into the businesses in this area during this time as well, and the heavy truck traffic using 1 as a shortcut to I-74 make this situation even worse.
The road conditions are horrific! it appears money is being spent on new roads and expansion that the existing roads have been forgotten.

This signalized intersection has very high volumes in the AM and PM peak. Left-turn lane storage on all 4 legs is in-adequate. Right turn lanes do not exist. This intersection needs to be widened to extend the left-turn lanes and add right turn lanes for all four legs.

Hwy 231 through Rensselaer needs resurfaced. Very bumpy ride through town.
Thanks to the new US31 bypass, Michigan Rd. is now less-traveled than US6 at this intersection. The stoplight is still deferential to Michigan, however. I think the stoplight should be reprogrammed to give deference to US6.

Please consider 4 lanes on SR 32 to address east-west corridor for the high growth area and provide better opportunity to connect with rural areas, which would enhance economic value added for the state.
In northern Bartholomew County at the intersection of US 31 and CR 550 North, there is a "no turn on red" overhead sign for westbound traffic that seems overly protective and excessive. There are numerous times when there are a number of vehicles backed up at that intersection trying to turn right and having to wait long periods of time for the light to change. There is a railroad that has to be crossed also at that intersection, however it is well marked and signaled. Request sign removal.

The section of I-74 between the Sunman and Batesville exits has been under nearly continuous construction for over 7 years. The highway has been *repeatedly* resurfaced again and again with seemingly no end in sight. No sooner is a resurfacing completed than workers begin cutting trenches in the new roadway or, worst of all, closing entire lanes for miles with so sign of work being performed. Strongly recommend an investigation into what is happening with the highway contracts for this area.

Agreed. It seems to be a test area for driver tolerance and vehicle durability; not to mention a test of flexible arrival times for employment. While there are two lanes serving 96th St WB left turn traffic, only one left-turn lane (the right-side left-turn lane) is being efficiently utilized to avoid downstream merging to the most right-side lane on Michigan Rd to get onto I-465. This causes long queue on 96th St WB every morning, and the queue usually spills back to the roundabout at Augusta Dr.

It would be outstanding if the state would add a left-turn only lane at this intersection to allow space for vehicles to move over safely who wish to turn onto 300 N.
We have a commercial fruit farm on a gravel road in Clay County. During the year, we get many farm visits from customers, distributors, media, and government officials. Make this a one way going eastbound on Main St. Traffic from 159 would travel east to 46. This would also eliminate congestion on 46 for traffic trying to turn west onto Main St.
Improvements to IN 39/42 intersection needed. Traffic light and turn lanes.
The northbound (from I-69) exit ramp onto IN-8 needs to be widened to 2 lanes (separate left and right turn lanes). At certain times during the day, high traffic volume causes exit ramp traffic to back up considerably. As it is right now the exit ramp is one lane all the way to the light. If it could be widened to 2 lanes for the entire length of the ramp, this would alleviate most of the problem.
I-70 W
This stretch of I-70 desperately needs another exit/entrance ramp. The continued growth to the east places far too much traffic on the Mt. Comfort Rd. exit to feed entire region between Post Rd. & Greenfield exits. As I live on Mt. Comfort Rd, I can attest that it becomes a parking lot both N and S of I-70 anywhere near rush hours, and is overly busy at nearly all hours of the day.
IN-8 east of I-69 is seriously congested. Part of the problem is an abundance of traffic traveling eastbound on IN-8 wants to turn right onto Touring Drive and there is no dedicated right hand turn lane. As a result, traffic backs up on IN-8 west of Touring Drive which prevents traffic from getting off the northbound exit ramp from I-69.
9904 W Ford Rd
Broken-uneven payment causes swaying. Large trucks traveling fast, need more traffic controlled stoplights. More turn lanes at stops.

Upgrade Rockville Road from SR 267 in Avon to I-465 to an expressway with closed access and construct roundabout interchanges at major intersections. Expand the Rockville Road expressway east to Holt Road. Upgrade Holt Rd. (already 4 lane divided) to an expressway. Make connection from I-465/Rockville Rd to I-70/Holt Rd. New route would result in a reduction of 2.85 miles or 5.7 miles round trip.
The intersection of 2nd, 3rd, Central Avenue, and State Street is a relatively high volume intersection that is challenging for traffic and even more challenging for pedestrians. In addition, much weaving takes place between traffic entering the intersection from State and Central westbound on 3rd. A well planned high volume multilane roundabout with pedestrian activated traffic controls on approaches could improve many of the challenges that this intersection now experiences.

Around 2007 INDOT dropped Phase 3 of the U.S. Hwy. 6 widening project between SR 149 and SR 49. Porter County was working on a cooridor study when an INDOT LaPorte District employee mentioned this. Hello. Please give consideration to improving the time it takes to drive from Noblesville to Westfield on SR 32. It can take 15 minutes to drive from the west side of Noblesville to SR 31. US 36 Rockville Road is highly congested and the area is continuing to grow. Between Raceway Raod and SR 267, it is highly commercial which attracts trips to the area with area residential growth increasing. Need investment in parallel routes.
1 month 2 weeks ago
I agree with this statement. The west side of Indianapolis is growing so fast that the road system traveling East/West cannot keep up. US 36 is the worst due to all the retail and stop lights, causing traffic to spill over to nearby back roads which cannot handle the increased traffic. This is likely to continue to get worse as this area continues to grow. Having a more convenient way to go East/West between Avon and downtown with fewer stoplights would be wonderful. Thanks for the opportunity to add feedback.
a west/south side by-pass is needed for West Lafayette/Lafayette. Recent US231 expansion/improvements have been good, but need to be continued to connect with I-65 on northwest side and extended to join with US52 and I 65 on southeast side. There is no easy, quick, straight way through town at all.
Traffic along SR 49 from I-94 to US30 is becoming increasingly congested. Installing overpasses for the cross street, (500N/Burlington Beach, 1100 N, 1200 N, Tremont Rd, etc.) as was done for Vale Park Rd/CR400N in Valpo would significantly reduce travel times on the N and S SR 49 corridor. As a bonus, bikes and pedestrians could cross SR 49 (East/West travel) much easier, as is done at CR400 N/Vale Park Rd.
I drive as a ride share provider and there are some major issue with congestion and in proper signing.
IN 46 and IN 11 over Louisville and Indiana Railroad - Obviously a priority for just about everyone, this project will make an incredibly positive contribution to improved traffic flow and public safety. I think that the proposed plan is elegant and would be very, very effective.
