I agree. Making the road wider will not help with safety. The path needs to be off the road.

It would be nice to construct a pathway bridge over the Lake Columbia exit tributary or at the end of Imperial Court between Hewitt and Wesch

I agree, we have pockets of great parks and trails and need to connect them. I am not a big fan of bike lanes on roads, would rather have legit tails like we get from the old rails to trails programs but a bike lane on a road is better than riding on the shoulder of busy roads. Railroad tracks that are not used should be made into trails to minimize the bike lanes required to get around.

The failure of defunct railroad Right of Ways many years ago was talked about which is water over the bridge now. That being said they said at the meeting that Consumers Energy is open to the idea of permitting walk/bike paths onto their ROWs which until now was unheard of. There are at least one currently in Clarke Lake proceeding North to Jackson. Another possibility is acquiring the Meridian Road ROW next to 127.

I wonder what the ‘outside perimeter’ Hewitt Road property owners acceptance of a four foot semi detached path from Jefferson down to the high school?

The Abandonment of the old Meridian Road is already there to build on along 127!

This would be great. Jackson college thru to falling waters, connects some great resources. Then add a way from ella sharp to Vandercook lake. Closing the loop from vandercook lake back to JC would be a nice addition but not a priority... can still get there in a round about way.

The path would connect to Kensington Dr. The would have to be a cross walk across Kibby Rd.
4 years 11 months ago
there is a bit of a hack that I discovered last year...between the new paved section to the trail and Park Rd there is a pretty well worn dirt path that winds through the woods and puts you in the neighborhood directly across from Kibby Kob market. I've taken it a few times last year to go to the market and the brewery there. No need to ride down Kibby road that way.

thanks for tip, hopefully property owner will allow permanent pathway

Kibby Road and McCain Road are not bike friendly.

As roads become newly paved, it would be nice to see paved shoulders for the creation of bicyclists.
4 years 11 months ago
Would be nice to have a shoulder or bike path in this area, there are places where there is little to no room to get off the road when cars are coming
4 years 10 months ago
Agree. With the Falling Waters trail is so close to this area, it would be great to head to Prime Cuts or Polly's by bike. Not feasible currently without bike lane on Horton

I really like the Brown St. Path between Cascades and Morrell. More of these types of paths would be great
4 years 11 months ago
agree, I'm sad the path ends at Morrel instead of continuing to Mich Ave.

the whole stretch N-S is hazardous to foot/pedal traffic

I agree. With the number of neighborhoods in this area, why are we accommodating cars and keeping people in their homes? This is close to Vandercook, which as a grocery store that should be accessible without driving.
4 years 11 months ago
I agree 1000%. A path with access down S. Jackson and Horton roads to the Jackson college, Dahlem Center, Ferguson and the Falling Waters path would be an instant success. It will pay for itself by improving property values, fitness of community, traffic for local businesses, and safety for our children.

I agree 1000%. A path down S. Jackson and Horton Road would be and instant success. Providing safe access to Jackson College, Dahlem center, The Country Club, Fergusons Corners and The Falling Waters trail. It will pay for itself with increased non-motorized traffic to local businesses, increase in property values, increased health and fitness of our community and increased safety of our children. Please make this a priority.
4 years 11 months ago
Yes I absolutely agree with this!! I would love to bike or run into town but it is not safe to go along S. Jackson road. There are areas where there is minimal shoulder and cars drive too fast on this road without paying attention
4 years 10 months ago
The country club hills, golf view hills and 340 farms are only accessible safely by vehicle. This would be a great investment in creating a path from greater Jackson to these neighborhoods.

Definitely agree. The level of potholes in the existing bike lanes makes it very unsafe to actually use. Most bikers I see in the city use the sidewalks, but even those aren't in very good shape.
4 years 11 months ago
Agreed. My route to get somewhat safely downtown consists of rail trail, pot hole ridden side streets, parking lots, side walks and no bike lane whatsoever. I would love to have my kid's ride with me to the library but not until there are some better routes.
4 years 11 months ago
Agreed. We definitely need more bike user friendly paths downtown and surrounding areas. I do like the newer path that goes from Consumers to the inner city trail. I would like to see some surface renewal along the inner city trail, as it's getting old and cracked.

current bike lanes aren't maintained enough to ride in so hard to argue for more. need an effective street sweeper on route first

Yes please!! I want my teenager to be able to safely get to school by bike or walking. From vandercook to Jackson College.

You can park at Parkside and commute to the trail from there. But yes, that park is small.
4 years 10 months ago
The trail itself is very slanted in places and difficult for people with disabilities to navigate safely. We need some lighting on the trails as well.
4 years 10 months ago
It would be even better to have safety cameras as well to deter criminals from targeting people on trails.
